Magic Jump Inc. Official Response to Lawsuit Against Inflatable Manufacturers and Prop. 65
08/13/10

Lead in Bounce Houses? What you should know.

Magic Jump, Inc. (MJI) wants to assure all its customers that it takes product safety very seriously. We strive hard to make sure we are using the best quality raw goods available in the market to produce a safe and quality product. In response to the issue concerning lead in vinyl, MJI has the following to say:

For the longest time MJI purchased its vinyl from a Canadian based supplier, Naizil Canada, who at the time promoted themselves as producers of high quality and lead-free vinyl. Naizil was a very reputable supplier in the industry and was known for making a safe and quality product. Naizil supplied vinyl to several reputable inflatable manufacturers as well. During our course of use we received very positive feedback from our clients in regards to Naizils’ vinyl quality. At the same time Naizil advertised that all materials used in its products were "lead free".

MJI is aware of the recent lawsuits filed against manufacturers of Bounce House Toys alleging that the vinyl material used in some of these toys contain levels of lead that require a Proposition 65 warning (which only affects California residents). With respect to the lawsuits filed by the Attorney General and CEH, MJI understands that they are based on an out-of laboratory test of a single MJI product which was an old model manufactured in 2006 with the Naizil vinyl. As a consequence, MJI believes the problem may be quite isolated. In any event, since mid 2006, MJI has been using a different supplier that has provided "certification" that its products are lead free. MJI has been in touch with the same supplier who continues to assure that the material used in all products it currently supplies to MJI are lead free, of the highest quality, and in compliance with all laws. In the meantime, MJI believes the products in its current inventory are safe.

MJI has also been in contact with the Attorney General's Office, and intends to cooperate in an effort to resolve any concerns relating to its products. MJI would like its clients and users of its products to know that CEH and the Attorney General have not provided any one incident of health issues caused by lead in these bounce house toys throughout the 51 year history. However the media may be portraying this, MJI would like its clients and users to know that it will provide the latest news once there are any updates.
